Giuseppe Macina Operatic Voices Competition - 2025

To honour the legacy of our founder and further our mission of championing the Canadian opera artists of tomorrow, Toronto City Opera is producing our second annual Giuseppe Macina Operatic Voices Competition.

Matthew Li – Bass - Rebanks Fellowship, Atelier Lyrique de l'opera de Montreal
Lauren Margison – Soprano - COC Ensemble, Pacific Opera Victoria
Christian Masucci-Facchini – Countertenor - Glenn Gould School, UofT
Alex Halliday - Bass-Baritone - COC Ensemble, UofT Opera
Paulina Swierczek – Soprano - Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice, Boston Symphony
Spencer VanDellen – Tenor - University of Michigan, Highlands Opera Studio
McKenzie Warriner – Soprano - Vancouver Opera Young Artist, Rebanks Fellowship

Tickets are only $20 general admission.$2.50 Booking fee. No HST

COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS

• Monetary prizes totaling $5,000 to be distributed at the discretion of the adjudicators

• Future performance contracts with Toronto City Opera 

• Contestants will be judged by a panel of Canadian opera professionals.

This exciting new event will include an opportunity for the audience to vote for an Audience Choice Prize and is sure to become an annual highlight for the Toronto classical music community.
