Nothing Happens Without You - Physical Theatre
By Davis Freeman
Suitable for age 12+
Davis Freeman’s latest solo work, Nothing Happens Without You, is an intimate and disarming performance that confronts growing older, masculinity, empathy, and the politics of forgiveness. Blending elements of a ritual, an exorcism, and raw stand-up, Freeman invites the audience to shift from passive spectators to active participants in a shared space of reckoning and reflection. At its core, this piece explores what it means to care and support one another in a world increasingly defined by disconnection. How can we hold space together to transform the ordinary into the sacred?
The performance is a direct address to the audience. It's intimate and balances back and forth from a touching melancholia to a stand up comedy routine. There is dance, singing, and and intimate texts about the passing of Davis's father on Halloween. It's a refection on life and getting older and an attempt to understand what it is to forgive someone.
