Spork! Sunday Service: a morning of queer poetry

Join Spork! Poetry for a Sunday morning spoken-word show; an hour and-a-bit of
spectacular live poetry that amplifies Queer voices, from the silly to the sublime! Grab a coffee and a sweet treat from the cafe counter and settle in for your Sunday Service. 

Featuring 3 fantastic artists plus an audience limerick competition!

Sonia Thakurdesai is a poet and theatre maker; a creative human and curious being -
floating/flailing their way through themes of identity, belonging, light-touch existentialism
and queerness. She straddles the silly and the serious, bringing vulnerability and play.
You might have seen Sonia recently in the Exeter City Slam or headlining at Exeter
Phoenix's Taking the Mic.

Casey Garfield is a queer poet based in Exeter. The author of several published
collections including ‘hi hello I love you, my name is Casey Garfield’ (Ghost City Press),
their work has appeared in publications such as Maudlin House and Ink, Sweat & Tears.
They’ve performed everywhere from libraries to drag shows in the back room of a nacho
restaurant. They’ve facilitated and made work for Exeter Pride and Exeter Trans Pride,
and for the NHS Wellbeing Service. They are the current 'Bard of Exeter' and recently
won the Exeter UNESCO City of Literature City Slam, and so will represent Devon in
the international Slamovision 2026.

Kane John Mills is a Devon-based Dance, Theatre & Spoken Word Artist and Access
Consultant. Passionate about highlighting and fighting injustice, and championing,
uplifting, and celebrating those who experience marginalisation. He’s worked with the
likes of Milk Poetry, and Apples & Snakes, and has previously represented Devon in
Slamovision. He creates space for people to share their stories, and draws upon lived
experiences and observation to explore the mundane, magical, personal, and political.
So grab a coffee and join us for a morning of spoken-word brilliance you’re bound to
love. With a chance for you (yes you!) to get involved, with an audience poem, and a
Devon Limerick Competition!!
