A special Totnes Pride edition of Mama's regular jazz session - honouring & celebrating queer jazz & blues artistes!
SCARED OF JAZZ?
You don’t have to ‘get it’ to enjoy our session – just be open to joyful sounds, spontaneity, humour and larks, great musicianship, storytelling and chat, The Funk, characterful tunes that are the opposite of bland. You don’t need to be some kind of jazz expert to get into this!
WORRIED ABOUT BEING A NEWBIE?
Fear not. I’ll be there to welcome you in. I’m around for a chat and to make you feel comfy – especially if you’ve never been before. All the people who come are friendly too. It’s casual and relaxed, there’s no dress-code and the gig’s a great way to meet new people (if you want to, of course). It’s one of those places where you could visit alone and still feel comfy.
DON’T KNOW THE VENUE?
If you’ve never been to The Barrel House before, it’s a lovely spot nestled beneath the castle at the top of the High Street in Totnes. It has a long history in the region as a much-loved music venue and it has a regular programme of gigs by touring and local musicians and DJs. The Barrel House does hot drinks and craft beers via the downstairs Totnes Brewing Co.
