Join Ballinasloe Town Hall Theatre Society

Ballinasloe Town Hall Theatre is operated by the local community and ran by a voluntary committee.

The Hall is one of Ireland's finest Theatres boasting a 400-seat raked auditorium divided between balcony and stalls. It has a massive fly-in room above a raised stage incorporating trap doors, lighting and spotlight gantries.

The Theatre hosts local groups including B’sloe Panto's Christmas Pantomime, Ballinasloe Musical Society's annual production, as well as a variety of local drama groups, dance troupes, school shows and conference groups.

The building itself is detached former agricultural hall that was built in 1845 by Lord Clancarty of the Garbally estate to be used by the Farmers' Society at the time. It was later developed into a cinema and again refurbished in 1990 into a Theatre. The Town Hall is currently leased from the church by Ballinasloe Town Hall CLG which has overseen its latest refurbishments including a new roof, bathrooms and most recently the complete refurbishment of the foyer. These works received funding from both local and state agencies.

The current committee is dedicated to the ongoing refurbishment and promotion of the Theatre so that it can continue to serve our community and this region for generations to come.

The company is currently putting together a new programme of events for the upcoming season and the Theatre is available for all kinds of bookings including TV productions and travelling groups. There are also a variety of different sized rooms available for hire in the Theatre, which can accommodate classes, exhibitions, meetings etc, and the auditorium is equipped with a state-of-the-art projector and cinema screen which can be used for a variety of different purposes.
