Description
The Wacky Race - which take place at King's Lynn every Easter Monday - return on Bank Holiday Monday 1 April (1pm)1
As well as regular action this meeting sees our heroic drivers do battle in a variety of different vehicles and race types for this unique event which is one of our most popular of the season!
The meeting sees the annual appearance of the 4x4 SUV Bangers. As you can imagine these are bigger than the regular cars and produce some fantastic racing and action which is loved by the crowd. 170 Chris Shipp is a crowd favourite at these type of events and Chris typifies the attitude that drivers have for this meeting where entertainment is foremost!
Stiff head on action in the 4x4 Bangers last year between 170 Chris Shipp and 589 Simon Smith
As well as the 4x4 SUV Bangers we also have the annual appearance of the Siamese Bangers. This formula sees one car put on top of another. The driver in the top car does the steering and the driver in the bottom car works the accelerator, brake, clutch and gears! Yes it really is as crazy as it sounds and both drivers need to be in complete harmony or disaster occurs - and we wouldn't want that would we!? You don't need lots of these on track to produce some tremendous action!
High speed Siamese Banger action
Regular Banger Racing comes from the Micro Bangers - even the drivers in this formula get into the Wacky Races mode with three different type of races to normal - a Le Mans Start where drivers have to start with their nose to the fence before reversing out and beginning - a spin and start where drivers do the rolling lap the wrong way before all turning round and starting the race and the spin to win where the leader in the race is not allowed to pass a car without spinning them and nobody can also pass the leader without spinning them out as well! True chaos from out Micro Banger Stars
Micro Banger Drivers wait for the green flag to fall in the Le Mans Start
The Reliant Robins will also be providing their own branch of chaos! It is difficult enough getting one car around the King's Lynn track at speed on four wheels never mind three! Rollovers and crazy action are commonplace in what is billed as Motor Racing's craziest Grand Prix! The three wheeler was made iconic through the popular "Only Fools and Horses" comedy - you can just see Del Boy - "You Plonkers!"
Steady she goes! Keeping a Reliant Robin upright is difficult as 112 Edward Pindar finds out!
Please feel free when purchasing tickets to donate a quid or two to our driver of the meeting fund. Do not feel under any obligation but all the money donated goes to the winners of the "driver of the meeting awards" which everyone who donates gets a chance to vote in! Those who donate are also entered into a draw to win a free ticket here at a forthcoming event! This is something which is massively appreciated by drivers and has been good fun for fans involved as they get to be involved and try and get their favourite drivers on the day rewarded!!
