More Detail:
During Great Big Green Week from 6 to 14 June 2026, more than a million people across the UK will come together and take action for their communities, for nature and for the climate.
Transition Town MK invite you to start turning your kitchen waste into nutrient-rich compost. In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to create and maintain two powerful composting systems: a wormery and a bokashi bin. Whether you have a garden, allotment, or small indoor space, these methods make it easy to reduce waste and enrich your soil naturally.
The session begins with a clear, engaging presentation covering the essentials—how each system works, what to feed them, and how to keep them thriving. You’ll gain practical knowledge and confidence to avoid common pitfalls and keep your composting process healthy and effective.
In the second half, you’ll put theory into practice. You’ll build your own composting setup using provided materials, choosing either a wormery or a bokashi bin depending on your preference. By the end, you’ll leave with a working system ready to continue at home (note: the size and colour of bins will vary from those pictured here).
This workshop is ideal for amateur gardeners, eco-conscious households, and anyone curious about reducing food waste while improving soil health and the environment.
