Workshop - Activating the Voice and Body in Performance

A somatic, body-based practice session for performing artists, poets and writers. Utilizing movement, presence, and awareness exercises, explore your relationship to your voice, to space and time, to self and other. This practice session is an opportunity to engage in world-building practices that allow participants to build capacity for imagination and possibility.

About Aquarius:

Aquarius Funkk is an Afrofuturist artist currently based on Wabanaki territory (Portland, ME). Performer, producer, designer, facilitator, and world builder – they are an architect of experiences that bend time and shape reality. Their artistry is shaped by the traditions of vogue ballroom, neo-burlesque & drag, surrealism, and radical performance art. Known as The Interplanetary Extraordinary, Aquarius bends the realities of spacetime, reaching into the past to tell stories that are needed in the present. Using the practices of world-building, persona-making, and ritual actions, Aquarius creates live performances, immersive events, still images, and experimental film.
