Introduction to Seidr – Online 4-Part Course

Katie Gerrard & Andre Henriques introduce Norse shamanistic and divinatory practices known as Seidr. (Runs 18 & 25 Mar + 1 & 8 Apr, with optional in-person rite 10 Apr)

In this online 4-part course, Katie Gerrard and Andre Henriques guide students to begin practising Seidr themselves. Drawing on both historical sources and contemporary traditions, the course aims to awaken the Seer within each student, taking inspiration from the Volvas, the Norse 'shamans' who prophesied from the threads of fate for their communities. Students also cover the High Seat rite, the web of Wyrd, Seers in antiquity, working with deities and ancestors, and the Nine Worlds of Norse cosmology.

This is an online course, running on Thursdays: 18 and 25 March, 1 and 8 April, from 7-9pm. There will also be an optional in-person rite at Treadwell's, held 1-5pm on Saturday 10 April. While no previous experience is required, prior familiarity with some form of trance work (e.g. meditation, mediumship, shamanism, etc...) may be beneficial.

Katie Gerrard discovered Seidr in the late 1990s through her connection to the Norse deities. She is the author of Seidr: The Gate is Open – a scholarly yet practical guide to the rituals and techniques of this tradition.

Andre Henriques has led ceremonies, lectures and workshops on the Northern Traditions of Europe for many years. His MA dissertation was on the practices and personal cosmologies of contemporary Seidr practitioners.
