Florence Farr: Occultist, Artist, Feminist – Talk & Performance
Celebrating occultist, feminist, and performing artist Florence Farr with Isabella Javor.
In this in-person talk, Isabella Javor traces the life of actor Florence Farr, a leading figure of the Victorian occult revival and vocal advocate for women's suffrage. Farr, whose voice was refined on West End stages and in Golden Dawn rituals, collaborated with W.B. Yeats to revive the art of chanting poetry, which Isabella performs on a replica of Farr's Dolmetsch psaltery.
Isabella Javor has researched the life and work of Florence Farr for over a decade. In 2017, she produced A Woman's Century at the Theosophical Society in partnership with Treadwell's. She is an actor, writer and independent researcher working in theatre, film and TV.
