On Scholar-Practitioners – Lecture & Soirée
Allan Johnson questions the divide between studying esotericism and living it.
Myth and poetry have historically tried to record what can’t be described. In this in-person lecture, Prof. Allan Johnson looks at what literature offers both the scholar who studies esotericism and the practitioner who lives it, and how it trains the very sensibilities that lets one bridge the divide between both worlds. Drinks follow.
Professor Allan Johnson is Professor of English Literature at the University of Surrey. A longterm lover of esoteric and occult literature, he is the author of several books and articles, including The Sacred Life of Modernist Literature (Bloomsbury, 2022).
