Mousehold Heath: history and foraging walk

Come with Spencer and Roxanne on a Mousehold adventure. You'll feel their enthusiasm and friendship spill over as they combine their joint loves of history and nature, laugh, connect with the Heath, tell stories and find new more-than-human friends. 

Mousehold Heath is 184-acres of woodland and heathland in northeast Norwich. For over a thousand years, it served as common land where locals grazed animals, collected firewood, and quarried stone to build the city. It is most famous as the site of Kett's Rebellion in 1549, when thousands of rebels camped here to protest land enclosures. Later used for military training and a WWI airfield, the land was officially secured as a public leisure space in the late 19th century. Get down with all these stories and the Rosehips, Hawthorn berries, fungi and native plant life as we discover what's edible on the heath, then rest our tired legs with a beverage at the Artichoke pub afterwards. What better way to spend a Sunday.

Spencer is a wilderness therapist, bushcrafter and engineer with an unquenchable thirst to learn and chat charismatically about it all, Roxanne is an art historian, local history geek, storyteller and forest school leader with contagious enthusiasm. Together, they don't have a name yet, maybe you can suggest one! But they love hanging out in nature, spreading joy and laughter and waxing lyrical about nonsense and not so nonsense, you'll like them.
