Chillable Reds (Yeah, It's a Thing)

Wed Aug 12, 2026 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Tria Events, 1726 Sansom Street

Instructor: Lauren Harris, Tria Wine Director

These red wines are cooler than most, literally.

A surprising number of reds actually come alive with a chill, and they're exactly the lighter-bodied reds you already reach for in warm weather. Most wine pros agree nearly all reds benefit from a slight chill (cellar temp, 60-65 degrees), but the light-to-medium-bodied ones with higher acidity and lower tannins want to go even cooler, down to 45-55 degrees.

In France they call these wines vin de soif, or glou glou: thirst-quenching, endlessly drinkable, zero pretense. These are flexible wines, not fussy ones. Less about the "correct" way to drink red wine, more about the wine working for you, not the other way around.

Six wines from around the world, all served the way they're meant to be: cold.
