California, Reimagined: An Evening with Broc Cellars

Thu Oct 8, 2026 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Tria Events, 1726 Sansom Street

Guest Instructor: Chris Brockway, Founder & Winemaker of Broc Cellars

What if California wine didn't have to be big, ripe, and high-octane? What if it could be fresh, vibrant, lower in alcohol, and full of personality? That question has been at the heart of Broc Cellars since Chris Brockway made his first barrel of wine in Berkeley in 2002.

Join us for a special evening with the winemaker and founder behind one of California's most influential modern wineries. This is a rare opportunity to taste through the world of Broc Cellars while hearing directly from the person who has spent more than two decades challenging expectations about California wine.

Broc works with organically farmed vineyards throughout California, harvesting early to preserve natural acidity and using native yeasts and a remarkably hands-off approach in the cellar. The result is wine that feels fresh, energetic, and incredibly drinkable. Chris also has a particular love for grapes that don't always get the California spotlight, from Carignan and Valdiguié to Italian varieties like Vermentino, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Sangiovese.

During this guided tasting, Chris will share the stories, ideas, and winemaking decisions behind the wines, giving us a firsthand look at what it means to make California wine with restraint, curiosity, and a little bit of rebellion.

Come taste a different side of California and meet one of its most thoughtful winemakers.
