Award-winning Author Adam Farrer is a bold, witty, Northern voice in non-fiction writing. Fresh from sell-out events in Manchester and Ilkley, Adam is joining us in the restaurant as we celebrate the launch of his beautiful, new book - Broken Biscuits.
"He's a lovely writer: supple, stylish and almost effortlessly witty. This is a splendid book, to be cherished by anyone with a funny bone. I loved it." - Daily Mail (Marcus Berkmann)
You’ll enjoy a three-course meal before we introduce Adam at 8pm to tell us more about his new candid and personal collection of essays that is astonishingly far-reaching and riotously funny.
In Broken Biscuits, Adam vividly recounts his struggles to live up to masculine expectations. From the calamity of his first serious relationship to an obsession with Prince that sees everyone questioning his sexuality, and from the repercussions of his adult circumcision to his doubts about his ability to survive the apocalypse.
When it comes to the challenge
of being a man, Adam always seems to find a way to fall short. Holding up a mirror to his own body image, his relationship with his family, his sense of self-worth and
the mortifying experience of arriving at a teenage party wearing
strawberry-patterned short shorts, his book is about growing up and trying to
define yourself as a man but somehow always missing the mark.
Halifax's The Thoughtful Spot Bookshop will be at the event as our bookshop partner, with Adam's book available to buy and get signed on the evening.
