Step into one of England’s most atmospheric historic settings and join us for The Six Queens’ Ball at the magnificent Lord Leycester Hospital. This unique evening celebrates the lives, legacies, triumphs and tragedies of the six remarkable Tudor queens who shared the throne of King Henry VIII. Your experience begins with a welcome reception in the beautifully preserved medieval chapel, where you will be greeted with a glass of traditional mead or refreshing fruit juice before making your way into the breathtaking Great Hall. There, beneath ancient timbers and centuries of history, enjoy a sumptuous dinner fit for a royal court. Throughout the evening, immerse yourself in the splendour of Tudor England with lively music, courtly dancing, traditional games and spirited revelries as Henry VIII and his queens bring the Tudor court vividly to life. Whether you are a lover of history, fine dining or unforgettable experiences, The Six Queens’ Ball promises an evening of elegance, entertainment and royal intrigue unlike any other.

Evening Itinerary

7:00pm – Welcome Reception in the Chapel
Begin your royal evening in the atmospheric medieval chapel with a welcome drink of traditional mead or fruit juice. Meet fellow guests and soak in the unique surroundings as the Tudor court gathers for an unforgettable night.

7:30pm – Procession to the Great Hall
Take your place within the magnificent Tudor Great Hall as King Henry VIII  welcomes you to court.

7:45pm – Four-Course Tudor Banquet
Enjoy a sumptuous four-course dinner served within one of England’s most historic halls. Dine beneath ancient beams whilst surrounded by the splendour and pageantry of the Tudor court.

Throughout the Evening – Music, Dancing and Revelries
Be entertained by Tudor music, courtly dancing and lively revelries. Guests will have the opportunity to join in traditional dances, with selections chosen to suit the available space within the hall. Enjoy games, laughter and merriment as the court comes alive around you.

Discover the stories behind Henry VIII’s famous queens, hear their triumphs, heartbreaks and legacies through engaging interactions throughout the evening.

10:30pm – Carriages
As the candles burn low and the festivities draw to a close, bid farewell to the Tudor court and depart with memories of a truly extraordinary evening.

The menu has been specially created for Tudor Feasts, and includes a meat eating and vegetarian/vegan option. Just choose the option that suits you when you click to book your place.

Smoked haddock kedgeree

Main course

Whole roasted chicken spiced with mace and pimento, and a stuffing of apricot, sage, lemon and dates.

Roasted Cornish mids, honey roast parsnips, buttered turnips, beets and sautéed cabbage.

Strawberry and mead pavlova

Crispy kale and roasted carrot salad.

Main course

Nut and squash terrine with an apple and beetroot crust.

Roasted Cornish mids, honey roast parsnips, buttered turnips (vegan butter), beets and sautéed cabbage.
