Saturday 19 July 2025, 10.30am – 4.30pm
Learn the key skills of pattern cutting in this one-day workshop focusing on a modern design classic: The Workwear or Chore Jacket.
This iconic garment has become a contemporary wardrobe staple, seamlessly blending style with functionality. Originally crafted in 19th-century France for labourers, engineers, and farmers, it continues to endure as a symbol of durable workwear. With its clean, boxy silhouette, oversized patch pockets, and practical design, it's the perfect foundation for anyone interested in learning the essentials of pattern cutting.
Whether you are a beginner eager to understand the art of garment design or someone wishing to enhance your existing skills, this workshop will provide you with the essential foundations of pattern cutting and guide you through the process of drafting your own jacket pattern from scratch.
Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn key skills which can be adapted to many sewing projects.
You will be guided through the entire process from taking personal measurements and drafting the front, back and sleeve through to adding key details before tracing off and creating a professional sewing pattern ready to cut and sew in in the fabric of your choice.
