SEANCES by RIEKO: In Residence

A four-part ritual writing and creative practice programme exploring intuition, memory, sound, movement and self-expression, led by multidisciplinary artist and composer RIEKO.

Across four workshops, participants will explore different ways of accessing creativity through writing, meditation, movement, drawing, sound and improvised performance. Each session offers a different starting point for creative exploration, building towards a final public presentation at Turner Contemporary.

The programme is designed as a space to experiment, reflect and create alongside others, developing new ideas and creative material through RIEKO’s distinctive approach to ritual and collective practice.

Sessions

Session 1 — Writing for Knowing
Saturday 10 October, 10am–12pm
Explore memory, emotion and past experiences through intuitive writing.

Session 2 — Writing for Feeling
Saturday 31 October, 10am–12pm
Explore the relationship between body, sensation, writing and imagination through somatic practice.

Session 3 — Writing for Listening
Sunday 15 November, 1–3pm
Explore listening, sound, voice and improvised performance, developing writing through spoken and embodied expression.

Session 4 — Writing for Envisioning
Saturday 28 November, 10am–1pm
Use drawing, writing and visualisation to explore possible futures and develop material for the final presentation.

Final Public Presentation

Friday 11 December, 6–9.30pm

The programme culminates in a public presentation bringing together work developed by participants alongside RIEKO’s work in progress, followed by a Q&A and guided meditation.
