PORN ROCK: The Obscenity Trial of Jello Biafra

                YOU Are The Jury In This Interactive Courtroom Drama

In 1987, the City of Los Angeles charged punk rock icon Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys with "Distribution of Harmful Matter to Minors" after he included a sexually explicity poster inside the band's new release, "Frankenchrist".  

Set against the backdrop of the Reagan-era "culture wars," the comedic drama Porn Rock takes audiences inside the courtroom where free speech is pitted against artistic responsibility, and Biafra must fight for his literal freedom with a prison sentence looming. 

The play also takes audiences inside the marriage of Biafra to Teresa Soder (aka lead singer Ninotchka of punk band The Situations) as it fractures under the pressure of a government prosecution.

Each night, the audience will be asked to participate in jury selection and render the verdict, ensuring a different ending to the play for every performance.
