Natural, Organic, and Biodynamic Wines: what you need to know

We're overjoyed to bring TCWE back to the western suburbs of MSP, to one of our favorite destinations: The Vine Room in Hopkins, Minnesota!

Join us for a great evening of wine education with sommelier Jason Kallsen. We'll be demystifying the topic of natural, organic, and biodynamic wines and informing you about misinformation in the current marketing of 'healthy wines.' This is an incredibly important topic, and you'll leave with clear and accurate information; plus, we'll be tasting through a range of great examples.

We'll start with a short history of wine because, until the early 20th century, all wines were by default organic. So what changed? What brought the agrochemical industry into the wine business? How is wine manipulated and changed by the winemaker to bring out certain flavor profiles? How have modern winemaking and chemistry served the industry and the consumer? What farming practices are the best? How does a consumer support sustainable and organic production? What's the future of this part of the industry?

Those questions and many more will be discussed while we taste some truly amazing organic and biodynamic wines.

The Vine Room will have cheese and charcuterie boards available for purchase, and all wines can be ordered through The Vine Shop next door!

About the venue

The Vine Room was founded by Ali Hanson, whom we first met when she was our wine student ten years ago. Even then, she had a crystal clear vision of what she wanted to create for the local wine community: a fun, bright, good vibes-inducing destination for wine lovers.
