Wine Tour of Northern Spain: from Rias Baixas to Rioja, and everywhere in-between

If there is one stretch of wine country in the world that packs more variation in styles, geographical beauty, and history than northern Spain, we have yet to find it.

We'll start this new class with a dive into Rias Baixas and the Albariño grape, detailing the area's terroir and discussing the increased quality of recent vintages (and cue you into why it's happening). Staying in "Green Spain," we'll give you essential info on Bierzo, Monterrei, and Valdeorras.

Then we'll head inland to the Duero River Valley to discuss a range of crucial areas: Toro, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, then to the Basque Country around San Sebastián and Rioja. This is a journey of great variety and style, and you'll learn a ton about the geography and history of these regions.
