Twin Cities Wine Education presents VINO ITALIANO, a four-week celebration of Italian wines.

Islands of Italy: Sicily and Sardinia

Separated from mainland Italy by miles of sea and centuries of history, Sicily and Sardinia have developed wine cultures unlike anywhere else in the Mediterranean. Influenced by ancient civilizations, shaped by rugged landscapes, and blessed with abundant sunshine, these islands produce some of Italy's most distinctive and compelling wines.

Join sommelier Jason Kallsen for an exploration of Italy's two largest islands as we examine the grapes, traditions, and winemaking philosophies that make them so unique. From volcanic slopes and windswept coastlines to mountain villages and ancient vineyards, we'll discover how geography and culture have created wines that are both deeply rooted in place and increasingly admired around the world.

Along the way, you'll encounter bold reds, refreshing whites, fascinating indigenous grape varieties, and the stories of the people who have transformed these islands into some of the most exciting wine regions in modern Italy. If your image of Italian wine begins and ends with Tuscany or Piedmont, this class will open the door to an entirely different side of Italy.
