Wine Immersion: Bordeaux's Left Bank
Wine Immersion: Bordeaux's Left Bank

Twin Cities Wine Education presents a new class detailing a historic region.
Bordeaux's Left Bank: a wine immersion.
The Left Bank is where Bordeaux built its legend. This is Cabernet Sauvignon country — gravel-soaked vineyards that drain fast, stress the vines, and produce the structured, age-worthy reds that put names like Margaux, Pauillac, and Saint-Julien on every serious collector's list. In this class, we're going to dig into what actually makes these wines tick: the gravel mounds, the 1855 Classification and why it still (mostly) holds up, and the stylistic differences between communes that are sometimes just a few miles apart but taste worlds apart in the glass.
We'll work our way from the top of the Médoc all the way down through Graves and into Sauternes, tasting through the appellations that define this stretch of the Gironde. Expect a discussion that shows the range — powerful, tannic Pauillac next to the perfumed elegance of Margaux, the earthier grip of Saint-Estèphe, and yes, we're finishing with the honeyed, botrytized richness of Sauternes because no Left Bank conversation is complete without it. No fluff, no pretense — just a real look at why these wines command the prices and reputations they do.
Whether you're building out your Bordeaux knowledge for the certification track or you just want to finally understand what separates a Pauillac from a Margaux, this class will get you there. Bring your palate and your questions — we'll cover the history, the terroir, and the producers, but the real learning happens in the glass. Spots are limited, so grab yours before this one sells out.
And, of course, we will enjoy incredible wines from across the region, covering all price points and several vintages.
