Wine Immersion: Bordeaux's Right Bank

Tue Nov 17, 2026 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM The Vine Room, 55343

Twin Cities Wine Education presents a new class detailing a historic region.

Bordeaux's Right Bank plus Entre-deux-Mers: a wine immersion.

The Right Bank is where Merlot gets to show what it’s really made of. This is Saint-Émilion and Pomerol country — clay and limestone, smaller estates, and reds that combine generous fruit with serious depth and staying power. Cabernet Franc brings perfume, freshness, and a savory edge to the conversation, and the relationship between these two grapes is a big part of what makes this side of Bordeaux so compelling. In this class, we’re going to dig into what actually makes these wines tick: the soils, the history, and why vineyards just a short drive apart can deliver such different personalities in the glass.

We’ll explore the famous names alongside their less famous neighbors, where some of Bordeaux’s most satisfying discoveries are hiding in plain sight. Expect a discussion that connects the richness of Pomerol with the varied slopes and soils of Saint-Émilion, then looks farther afield to places like Fronsac and Castillon, where your wine budget can stretch considerably further. We’ll also head into Entre-deux-Mers, the broad stretch between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, where fresh, aromatic whites provide a delicious change of pace. Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle deserve their moment in the spotlight, and this region gives us plenty of reasons to keep Bordeaux in the fridge as well as the cellar.

Whether you’re building out your Bordeaux knowledge for the certification track or you just want to understand why one Merlot-based blend costs twenty bucks and another requires a conversation with your financial advisor, this class will get you there. Bring your palate and your questions — we’ll cover the history, the terroir, and the producers, but the real learning happens in the glass. Spots are limited, so grab yours before this one sells out.

And, of course, we will enjoy incredible wines from across the region, covering all price points and several vintages.
