Description
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a complete overview of a top wine region.
The Tuscany Wine Immersion
Tuscany is one of those regions that the mere mention of will cause sighs of joy to be heard … we all love Tuscany, even if we have never been there.
Reading books about Tuscany or seeing movies only helps to reinforce our love of the region, but drinking the wines of Tuscany solidifies the deal.
The wines of Tuscany are surprisingly varied. This class will begin by covering the region's geography — precisely how Tuscany was formed, where it is, and where the weather influences come from. We’ll discuss the history of the area and the differences between Siena and Florence, and how this led to many different styles of the most planted grape, Sangiovese.
Then we’ll dive into specific sub-regions to give you a complete understanding of Tuscany.
The whites of San Gimignano. The seven sub-zones of Chianti and their differences. The area around Montalcino. The “noble wine” of Montepulciano. The coastal area of Maremma. And, of course, we’ll decipher the curious term “Super Tuscan.”
All of this while tasting top-notch examples of the wines of the region.
I hope you can join us for this complete overview of the wines of Tuscany!
