Welcome to the sixth north west edition of the Planning, Development & Environment Hike, brought to you by Stride Treglown & Tyler Grange and delivered by Freshwalks.

Bringing together innovators and thought leaders to reflect upon mutual challenges and connect with other professionals. Swapping your daily pressures for the great outdoors, we hope you'll be able to switch off for a few hours to reconnect with nature and benefit from the fresh air, head space and excellent peer company.

At the end of the walk we also invite you to join us for some complimentary lunch and drinks at The Old Hall Hotel in Hope to relax and reflect upon earlier conversations.

Route description

Our route will see us initially ascend the lower slopes of Lose Hill where views of the surrounding valley will become increasingly spectacular. We’ll then walk along the Great Ridge, dropping down Back Tor and then at Hollins Cross we’ll begin our descent down into Castleton. Subject to progress we’ll enjoy a quick drink and toilet stop at one of the village pubs before the final walk back across farmland to Hope. We’ll head to the Old Hall Hotel for lunch and well-deserved refreshments.

Meeting location: Granny May’s Hope Tea Rooms, The Old Hall Hotel, Market Place, Hope, Derbyshire S33 6RH

Parking: Hope Village Car Park, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, S33 6RD (approx 2 mins walk to our meeting location). Parking will cost £6.80. The ticket machines accept 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins and do not give change. You can also pay via the PayByPhone application.

Public transport: Please take the 08:48 train from Manchester Piccadilly to arrive in Hope 09:38 or the 09:14 train from Sheffield which also arrives in Hope at 09:38. (12 mins walk to meeting location)

Food & refreshments: We’ll get a hot drink in pre-walk at the Tea Rooms, refreshments in Castleton and your pub food back in Hope too.

Toilets: There are customer toilets at Granny May’s Hope Tea Rooms and we also plan to stop in Castleton just after noon.
