!! Incoming 2026 freshers (including LLB, dual-degree, and non-law students), please wait for the Freshers ticket release in September, which includes packages for Freshers Fortnight events inclusive of a full membership.

The UCL Law Society offers several types of memberships tailored to a range of potential members interested in our initiatives. Please read the below guidance on which membership you should purchase:

1. Law Society Membership (UCL LLB students only): This can only be bought by UCL law students, excluding those on an exchange year from other universities. LLB, LLB with a year abroad, and Dual Degree students should purchase this membership (except contextual students). The membership is valid for the entire duration of the buyer's course degree at UCL (3 or 4 years). LLB contextual offer holders should not purchase this membership, and will receive a separate purchase link directly from the faculty.

2. Affiliate membership (UCL Non-law students only): This can only be bought by non-law students at UCL. The membership is valid for the entire duration of the buyer's course degree at UCL (3 or 4 years).

3. Affiliate Membership (UCL Non-Law Contextual Offer Holders Only): This can only be bought by non-law students in UCL with a contextual offer. The membership is valid for the entire duration of the buyer's course degree at UCL. UCL law students with a contextual offer should not purchase this membership, and will receive a separate purchase link directly from the faculty.

4. Law Society Membership (Exchange and Masters Students ONLY - 1 YEAR membership): ONLY students undertaking a year abroad at UCL Laws, and any LLM or other Masters students should purchase this membership, valid for 1 year.

*Please note for LLM students that membership confers access to our social and career initiatives, hosted with commercial law firms and barrister chambers, but does not provide full access to UCL Law Society competitions (this is separate from faculty-hosted competitions e.g. VIS International Moot).

*For Affiliate members, membership grants access to social and career events, and limited competitions. As of 2026/27, affiliate members are eligible to participate in Debating and Vocations competitions, but not mooting due to the heightened requirement of prior legal knowledge.

*Please note that membership does not guarantee placements to all career events. For certain career events hosted with commercial law firms, limited capacity means ALL members will at times be required to submit a short written answer to be invited to attend. These answers are then reviewed by the UCL Law Society Careers Secretary and/or Law Firm Graduate Recruitment representatives before invitations are sent out. This applies to a small proportion of all career events hosted in the year and is clearly visible on all Instagram promotion posts at @ucllawsoc.

No refunds will be made for mistaken purchases.
