Sex, Lies and Statistics: Book Launch
Join us to celebrate the publication of Sex, Lies and Statistics: Why We Need Evidence-Based Policy on Sex and Gender.
Sex, Lies and Statistics investigates one of the most contentious and puzzling social phenomena of our time: the removal of sex from data, social policy and public discourse. Clear, accessible, and deeply researched, this book makes a powerful case for evidence-based policymaking and honest public discussion. At a time when trust in institutions is increasingly fragile, Sullivan argues that if we are to avoid a post-truth culture, we must reject tribalism and groupthink, welcome critical voices, and reclaim the virtue of tolerance.
The author, Alice Sullivan, will be joined by an expert panel to discuss the book.
Panel:
Alice Sullivan, Professor of Sociology, UCL
Baroness Kishwer Falkner, former Chair of EHRC
Ann Oakley, Professor of Sociology and Social Policy, UCL
Sallie Baxendale, Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology, UCL
The panel will be chaired by writer and broadcaster Sonia Sodha.
The panel discussion will be followed by audience Q&A and refreshments.
There will be an opportunity to buy the book from Primrose Hill Books.
