Supporting international students to study in the UK: UKCISA's guidance for school counsellors

Thu 26 Feb 2026 11:00 - 12:00 GMT Online, Zoom

Choosing to study in the UK can raise many questions for students and their families - from visas and immigration rules to fees assessments and welfare. This webinar introduces UKCISA, the UK Council for International Student Affairs, and the advice and resources we offer to help international students transition to the UK and be supported throughout their time as a student.

Navigating changing requirements and policy is complex. This session is designed to help you answer the questions you and your students might have about studying in the UK.

We will:

  • cover how to access reliable updates, understand policy changes, and use UKCISA’s information to provide clear, practical advice to international students and their families.
  • explore the most common questions students ask, sharing accurate and reliable resources that can support both counsellors and students throughout their UK study journey
  • provide critical updates on major immigration policy changes and how this will affect future international students
  • give key insights to how fee assessments are conducted and how these are applied to applicants

As a leading voice for international students in the UK, we ensure that all our content and activity is a true reflection of what international students need. We do this by grounding our work in the principles of the #WeAreInternational Charter. This student-led document provides guidance on delivering a world-class international student experience, from pre-arrival to post-graduation.
