UKESF Girls into Electronics hosted by University of Nottingham
Thu 6 Jul 2023 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM BST
University of Nottingham, NG7 2RD
Description
Bookings closing on Wednesday 21st June
Girls into Electronics gives female Year 11’s and sixth formers the unique opportunity to develop their interest in Electronics. At the heart of the programme is a one-day event at a leading UK university. During the day, participants will find out more about Electronics and studying the subject at university level, as well as hearing from female graduate engineers working in the Electronics sector.
Making advances in Electronics and semiconductors is critical to providing technological solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing society, including climate change, improving healthcare and better connectivity and communications.
During the day, participants will experience a sample lecture from a senior academic, input from current students, a department tour, a Q&A, and an introduction to microcontrollers. This introduction will be a ‘hands on’ practical session using the Grove Beginners’ Kit, including Arduino, which participants are provided with and is theirs to keep (find out more about the kit on our Insight into Electronics page). As well as the event, there will be the opportunity to gain further insight through follow-on activities, including online sessions to guide participants through further practical activities with the microcontrollers.
Booking the course is £20 per person, to cover administrative costs. As a charity, we want our courses to be accessible to all, so if the booking fee is a barrier, or if you need support for travel costs, please get in touch before booking, via info@ukesf.org.
If you are a teacher interested in booking places for students, please complete the form here and we will be in touch: Girls into Electronics - Expression of interest. If you are ready to book, please use the booking form here: Girls into Electronics – Booking Form for Teachers
