Introduction to fundraising through gaming and livestreaming
Thu 7 Mar 2024 10:15 AM - 11:45 AM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
Gaming and streaming-based fundraising is one of the UK’s fastest growing income streams for charities, with some charities, large and small, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds each year.
As a result, many organisations are looking at this area and wondering whether to get involved – what does it take, should we invest, how should we adapt etc. This course will help you answer these questions
In many cases trustees or CEOs are asking fundraising teams ‘what is your strategy for this’ or ‘why aren’t we doing this?’ I will help you answer these questions – and if we decide this isn’t the right area for your charity, it will equip you with the tools required to explain why or what would need to change.
What this course will cover
• The very basics, for those who know nothing about gaming – what is streaming? What is Twitch? What are Discord and Tiltify?
• How is money actually raised – by the gaming industry, and by streamers and influencers/content creators?
• Case studies of the most successful fundraising initiatives
• Case studies of the UK charities having success in this area
• Discussion about your organisation’s current status and whether you should target this area. And if so, how?
Who is this course for?
This is a course for charity professionals who want to get to grips with the basics of fundraising with video games and live streaming.
While this course has been developed by a UK-based trainer with a predominantly UK audience in mind, it covers fundraising techniques that are relevant worldwide with examples especially from the US as well as the UK and other countries. So it might well be relevant to delegates overseas. However, we make no guarantee that the course will cover details such as rules and regulations for countries other than the UK.
The course will be delivered via Teams. Delegates will receive a copy of the slides. It will not be recorded.
