Graphic Traffic: how to create and use images & video on social media
Wed 5 Mar 2025 11:15 AM - 2:15 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
Images and video on social media sites grab attention and drive traffic. More and more online marketing content is visual. So how can your charity or small business create and use graphics and video to support your marketing, fundraising, sales, communications and other activities?
And how can you do it yourself, quickly and cheaply?
** New for 2024/25 - how to create images and videos with generative AI tools **
Howard Lake, publisher of UK Fundraising since 1994, will guide you through the practicalities of making, posting and sharing effective images and videos for your organisation to use. He has spent the last 30 years working out how to illustrate all kinds of content on the site and on its social channels. Plus the last 10 years sharing this via Graphic Traffic courses across the UK.
* This is a two-part course, with two one-hour sessions on the same day with an hour's lunch break in between. *
Expect a live, practical course. You'll practise using your desktop/laptop, tablet or mobile phone to create a wide variety of images that tell a story, demonstrate impact, ask for support, sell and more. But do dig out some coloured pens, scissors, magazines, coloured paper, sticky/postit-type notes, and maybe even some biscuits (chocolate fingers are good) as you can use those in some of the exercises. Lego minifigs can be useful, as well as various packets of sweets.

What delegates will leave with
By the end of the course delegates will:
- gain confidence in using mobile phones, tablets and laptops as image and video creation tools
- understand the ways in which well-crafted images can support their organisation's fundraising, sales, campaigning, and communications
- leave having made a range of images for use or at least for discussion with their colleagues
This is a practical course so if you have a desktop/laptop and a phone it might be handy to follow the course on one and use the other for trying out some of the tools and ideas we cover. If you just have the one, then that's fine: you can do the exercises in between part one and two.
We'll cover a range of apps that you might find useful. Some will be free downloads, others are low cost.
We shall also send you a copy of the slides.
Cancellations and refunds
If we have to cancel this event then Fundraising UK Ltd will fully refund the ticket fee you have paid. We shall not, however, be liable for any other costs you might incur.
What do people say?
"I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a massive thank you for this morning’s course. It was very interesting and I am looking forward to trying out Canva and Snapseed. We try to publish on social media but neither of us have much experience in that field so it has been really useful and I am looking forward to next week’s session. I only work a day a week so time is very precious and I think these hints and tips and new apps to try will really help"

"Thank-you so much for part 1 of the course this morning. It was just what I was looking for and I am inspired to get creating my own images! Really useful with great suggestions of simple apps and tools to look at now too."
