FREEDOM UNDER FIRE UKRAINE IN THREE FILMS
Ukrainians of Colorado is hosting a film event, “Freedom Under Fire: Ukraine in Three Films,” on April 26th from 3:00–9:00 PM at the Buell/Rocky Mountain Public Media Center, 2101 Arapahoe St Denver, 80205, parking across the street. The evening will feature films and reflection tracing Ukraine’s journey from the Soviet era to the present-day war.
April 26, 2026 - 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster
Program Schedule
3:00 PM – Doors open; reception
3:15 PM – Opening remarks;
3:30PM – Chernobyl - created and written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck.
First episode of the famous HBO series will be presented.
The series is about the disastrous events of 1986 at Chernobyl, Ukraine, and the cleanup efforts that followed
5:00 PM – Children in the Fire - awards winning film by Evgeny Afineevsky
The eight young Ukrainians, that are followed through the film, are vibrant, ambitious and full of wonder. They love their country, and they strive to energize and rebuild their communities. Each represents millions of children who have been subjected to violence yet refuse to be broken.
7:00 PM – Intermission,
refreshments, finger food is offered
7:20 PM – Ukraine Under Fire - awards winning film by Jordan Campbell featuring Olga Butko and Peter Fauche
Ukrainian television news presenter Olga Butko and American journalist Jordan Campbell document resistance, war crimes and genocide and chronicle Ukraine's quest for freedom and democracy.
8:00 PM – Panel discussion
9:00 PM – End of event
Tickets Price:
Adult for the whole event - $25 three films and 2 alcoholic drinks included
Children (up to 12 yo) - $15 three films, no drinks
