About Umami Amora
Umami Amora is a Memphis-born fine dining experience created by Daishu McGriff — nationally recognized chef, culinary artist, and entrepreneur known as the Mushroom Queen. What began as a love of storytelling through food has grown into one of Memphis' most intimate and intentional culinary events.
Rooted in community, creativity, and cultural celebration, Umami Amora gathers Black chefs around one table to share their voice, their heritage, and their craft — one course at a time. Every experience is immersive, every detail is purposeful, and every plate carries a story worth tasting.
This year, The Renaissance marks a bold new chapter. Seven courses. Seven chefs. And for the first time, a menu that goes beyond plant-based — expanding the table, honoring the full range of Black culinary tradition, and inviting Memphis to experience something it has never quite seen before.
Umami Amora is more than a meal. It is a love letter to Black food, feeling, and creative collaboration.
