Join us for a virtual writing and study retreat online!
Whilst initially envisaged for postgraduate students, these sessions are open to anyone who wants to put aside 3 solid hours to work quietly on research, studying, a project or a piece of writing.
There are 3 simple rules:
1) Set your intention before you start.
What is it that you hope to accomplish? (Feel free to share in the chat with the other participants!)
Plan what you are going to work on, and stick to the plan.
2) Keep interruptions to a minimum, both to yourself and the other participants.
We are all familiar with online etiquette; mics should be muted except during breaks.
Turn your phone off or to silent so that you are not tempted by the distraction of messages, the same goes for email.
3) Cameras are optional.
Some people will keep their cameras on because it helps them be accountable to the other participants. You don't have to do so if you don't want to.
The Format
Morning sessions will start at 09:00 and go on until 12:00 (GMT or whatever the current time is in Edinburgh, Scotland)
- First 5 minutes will just be a chance to say hi and put your intention for the session into the chat.
- Session 1 - 09:05 - 10:30
- Break - 10:30 - 10:45
- Session 2 - 10:45 - 11:55
- Last 5 minutes are a chance to say goodbye and celebrate your successes!
Helpful Hints
Whilst we have built in a break to the sessions, you might want to make sure you have some water. If you want snacks, bring snacks. If you want music, bring music (just keep it to yourself).
