The Uncommon EA:
Are You Actually a Senior EA?

In partnership with eavolve

Join us for an exclusive evening designed for ambitious EA and PA professionals who want to better understand the level they are operating at, what seniority really means, and what it takes to progress.

The EA profession has evolved significantly, but how we define experience and seniority has not always kept pace. Job title, salary, years of experience and the seniority of the person you support can all influence how we perceive our professional level, but do they actually tell us how capable someone is?

The evening will begin with an honest look at what seniority really means in the EA profession, where we’ll explore:

  • Why title, tenure, salary and who you support do not necessarily define your professional level.
  • The common myths and assumptions we have built around what makes someone a senior EA.
  • What really differentiates levels of capability, including judgement, autonomy, prioritisation, commercial awareness and decision-making.
  • Why two EAs with the same title and similar experience can be operating at very different levels.

We’ll then put this thinking into practice with a real-world EA scenario, asking you to consider what you would do when faced with competing priorities, pressure and no obvious right answer. Lily Shippen, Founder of The Core Standard, will explore what our responses to these situations can tell us about professional capability, why she believes the EA profession needs a more objective way of benchmarking talent, and the thinking behind The Core Standard. Emily Partridge, Managing Director and Creator of eavolve®, will then bring the conversation into professional development, exploring why understanding your current level should never become a label or a ceiling, and how EAs and PAs can build the behaviours, evidence and capability required to progress.

You’ll leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of what senior EA capability really looks like.
  • Greater awareness of the difference between experience and professional level.
  • Insight into how judgement and decision-making can demonstrate capability.
  • A practical way to start evidencing your own professional impact.
  • Greater clarity on where you may want to develop next.
  • A complimentary EA Evidence Audit to continue the thinking after the event.

This is an opportunity to challenge some of the assumptions we have made about seniority within the profession and ask yourself one important question:

If we removed your job title, salary, years of experience and the title of the person you support, what evidence would prove the level you are operating at?
