The Unity Visual Arts Center invites you to:

An Artistic Journey through an Ancient Technique

Join us for an enriching afternoon workshop where you will learn the ancient art of Batik painting and create your own uniquely designed scarves. Batik, a process that is over 3000 years old, employs wax and dye to produce stunning patterns on fabric. This workshop promises not only to teach you this intricate art form but also to provide you with a creative and relaxing experience.

About the Workshop

 It is designed for participants of all skill levels, whether you are a seasoned artist or a complete beginner. Muffy Clark Gill, artist and Master Silk Painter will guide you through each step of the Batik painting process, ensuring that you gain a thorough understanding and can create beautiful designs.

What You Will Learn

Throughout the workshop, you will explore the following aspects of Batik painting:

• Introduction to the materials and tools used in Batik
• Basic and advanced techniques of applying wax and dye
• Designing and creating your own patterns
• Tips for handling and preserving Batik fabric

Registration fee is $75, which covers the 3-hour workshop and all the supplies needed, including 2 scarves.

This event takes place in the Visual Arts Studio and is limited to 10 registrants.
