Black History Month with UHB REACH Staff Network 2026
1 October to 31 October 2026
This October, we celebrate Black History Month 2026, embracing the national theme “Honouring Our Communities”. This year's theme encourages us to recognise and celebrate the individuals, families, organisation, and communities whose contributions help shape, support, and sustain society every day. It shines a spotlight not only on historic achievements but also on the ongoing impact of Black people across healthcare,
Black History Month provides an opportunity to reflect on the rich and diverse histories of Black communities in the NHS, acknowledge the challenges that remain, and celebrate the resilience, innovation, and leadership that continue to enrich our organisation and communities. It reminds us that Black history is not a separate story but an essential part of the NHS story, past, present, and future.
Together, we can honour our communities, amplify voices that need to be heard and ensure that our commitment to inclusion, fairness and anti-racism is demonstrated through our everyday behaviours, decisions and actions.
