The UK and Ireland IEEE Nanotechnology Council Chapter DL Talk (by Prof. Jianshi Tang)

Tue 26 May 2026 9:15 AM - 10:30 AM BST Online, Zoom

Join us for a Distinguished Lecturer Talk by Prof. Jianshi Tang on Memristor-based Neuromorphic Computing for Accelerating AI and Signal Processing!

Hosted by the University of Bristol IEEE Student Branch, IEEE UK & Ireland Nanotechnology and Sensors Council Chapters, this online event will explore how emerging memory devices are reshaping the future of artificial intelligence.

As AI systems—especially large language models—continue to grow in scale and complexity, conventional computing architectures are facing fundamental limitations. Prof. Tang will introduce neuromorphic computing as a promising paradigm to overcome the von Neumann bottleneck, leveraging memristor devices to mimic the efficiency of the human brain.

The talk will cover key advances in memristor materials and device design, as well as their large-scale integration with CMOS technology. Attendees will gain insights into cutting-edge developments in computing-in-memory (CIM), including applications in neural network acceleration and signal processing.

This is a must-attend talk for anyone interested in AI hardware, neuromorphic systems, and next-generation computing technologies.

We look forward to seeing you online for this exciting and insightful lecture!

Note: The Zoom link will be sent after registration.
