Join us for an ONLINE Distinguished Lecturer Talk presented by Prof. Ken-Tye Yong from the University of Sydney!
Hosted by the University of Bristol IEEE Student Branch and the IEEE UK and Ireland Nanotechnology Council Chapter, this virtual event delves into the transformative role of nanocarbons in biology and medicine, with applications in sensing, imaging, and drug delivery.
Prof. Yong will discuss how nanocarbons of various dimensions—such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and nanodiamonds—are revolutionizing theranostics by serving as biosensors, photothermal agents for cancer therapy, and drug carriers. The talk will cover the preparation and functionalization of these nanomaterials, design considerations for biocompatibility, and their potential for non-toxic cancer therapies. Prof. Yong will also address challenges in developing effective nanocarbon-based models for treating complex diseases and hard-to-treat cancers.
This is a must-attend event for anyone interested in the intersections of nanotechnology, biomedicine, and therapeutic innovation!
We look forward to seeing you online for this insightful discussion!
Note: The Zoom link will be sent after the registration.
