How can we take control of the technology that has become central to so many aspects of our lives and imagine a different future for it?

In this Thinking Futures Event, we take inspiration from diverse community technology practices and speculative fiction to explore this question through a participatory workshop. We will listen to readings, find out about innovative community tech practice, share ideas of our own for community tech, engineer new words to describe our inventions, and create a glossary for future community technologies. We draw inspiration from the work of Stuart Candy to plan and write together, be creative, take some chances.

In person only.

Soft drinks and nibbles will be provided.

In association with the British Sociological Association and the Campaign for Social Science.

The Campaign for Social Science is part of the Academy for Social Sciences (AcSS). The AcSS is the national academy of academics, practitioners and learned societies in social science. The AcSS uses its Campaign for Social Science to demonstrate how social science improves public policy, society and all our lives.
