As our careers develop, the demands of our role and interactions with peers can become more complex. This opens up exciting opportunities but can also present challenges. What do you do when you have concerns about others’ performance, behaviour, forward planning and use of resources? How can you give feedback whilst maintaining positive relationships? Argue your corner convincingly? One thing is certain: you will need to engage in some challenging conversations.
This highly practical course will boost your confidence and help you manage these situations in a calm, clear, and purposeful manner. You’ll explore:
- Embodying authenticity, authority and assertiveness
- Achieving positive outcomes and building effective working relationships
- Actively listening and reading others’ behaviours
- Adapting your style for different individuals and contexts
- Understanding status and power relations
- The confidence to engage in challenging conversations
- Communicating difficult messages clearly
During the session, you will gain valuable insights into, and experience of, the effects of different communication styles. You’ll leave equipped with straightforward approaches you can put into practice immediately.
