Interdisciplinary Connections and Collaborations: Reflections and Learning from URI Research Communities

Thu 25 Jun 2026 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Wills Memorial Building, room 3.32, BS8 1RL

Join Bristol’s Interdisciplinary University Research Institutes (URIs) for a lunchtime panel and networking event exploring interdisciplinary connections and collaborations in research.

Through a panel discussion with colleagues from the Brigstow Institute (convening interdisciplinary research through culture, creativity and collaborative methods), Cabot Institute for the Environment (connecting expertise across disciplines to address climate and environmental challenges), The Elizabeth Blackwell Institute (supporting interdisciplinary approaches to equitable and sustainable health) and The Jean Golding Institute (advancing interdisciplinary digital and data-intensive research), the session will reflect on experiences of building interdisciplinary collaborations, the opportunities and challenges involved, and what has been learned through working across disciplines, sectors and research communities.

Alongside offering insight into interdisciplinary research practice, the event is intended as a space to connect with URI opportunities, meet colleagues from across the University, and explore new and existing research communities. A Q&A will be followed by informal networking over lunch.
Whether you are already working interdisciplinarily or looking for ways to connect your research into wider communities and opportunities, this event offers a chance to find out more and meet others with shared interests.
