University of California Alumni & Friends—Let’s Celebrate!
The University of California Trust and UC Alumni UK invite the entire University of California community and friends to kick off the Gala weekend with a special night of connections, camaraderie, and California vibes—right here in London!

Coming from a designated campus pre-party? Join us right after! Not going to the gala? No problem—this celebration is open to all UC alumni and friends, wherever you are. Whether you’re attending the 9th Annual UC Alumni UK Gala, visiting friends and family in London, or simply looking for a reason to reunite with fellow UC grads, this night is for you!

Distinguished Guest

Dan Waite is a scholar-practitioner appointed in 2025 as Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director of the University of California Education Abroad Program, serving all ten campuses of the UC system under the UC Office of the President. He previously served as Executive Director of the Center for Global Education at Rutgers University, where he led the development of award-winning, access-focused programs advancing equitable participation in international study, internships, service, and research. With 25 years of experience in international higher education, his work bridges experiential learning pedagogies and community-building across difference, and includes the creation of study abroad programs in the Caribbean, Ghana, South Africa, China, and South Korea. His research examines the history of 19th-century Black student-activists who studied abroad in Europe and informs contemporary reimagining of education abroad, including his Global Learning Labs model that connects students and faculty worldwide on collaborative research addressing global challenges. He holds a Ph.D. from UCLA and a master’s degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, and has studied and conducted research in Antigua & Barbuda, South Korea, and China.
