Join us for a dinner & discussion of current US foreign policy from our distinguished speaker, journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner, Greg Miller (UC Davis ‘90 & Stanford ‘93). Listen to the conversation and meet other curious alumni as well as UCEAP students from across all 10 University of California campuses!
Greg Miller is an investigative foreign correspondent for The Washington Post based in London, and is the author of “The Apprentice — Trump, Russia and the Subversion of American Democracy,” a book published in 2018 by the Washington Post and Harper Collins. Miller was among the Post reporters awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and the fallout under the Trump administration. Miller was also part of the team awarded the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for public service for the paper’s stories about U.S. surveillance programs exposed by former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden.
Our program will begin at around 7:15 pm with introductions from UC Santa Cruz UK Alumni co-President and dual-qualified lawyer Harneel “Neely” Lally (‘10). Following the introductions, UCSC co-President and former correspondent, Ryan Chilcote ('95) will moderate the discussion covering US foreign policy, international relations and geopolitics.
Over a career spanning three decades at Bloomberg TV, Ryan has interviewed and reported on a multitude of world leaders including Vladimir Putin, Nicolás Maduro and Donald Trump. Ryan reported from Bloomberg TV for more than a decade as well as the PBS Newshour, CBS News and Fox News from his base here in London. Ryan started his career in Moscow, where he was based for CNN for 12 years, and covered Russia, the former Soviet Union and the wars in Chechnya, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Dinner will be served during the introduction. Prior to the introduction, we invite attendees to grab drinks at the bar, network and mingle with fellow alumni and students. After the dinner and discussion, attendees can continue the conversation amidst dessert and coffee/tea.
