LGBTQ+ Network Welcome Event 2024
Thu 17 Oct 2024 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Student Services Centre, CB2 3PT
Description
To celebrate the start of the year, and to welcome new members of the network, we are holding our LGBTQ+ network welcome event.
We are pleased to invite Alex Feis-Bryce, the CEO of Diversity Role Models. His talk will be followed by a drink reception and socialising with other members of the network.
Diversity Role Models is a charity whose vision is a world where everyone embraces diversity and can thrive. Their mission is to promote understanding and acceptance of individual differences and end LGBTQ+ bullying in schools by harnessing the power of storytelling and delivering pioneering educational workshops. Since their foundation in 2011, they have reached almost 240,00 young people and have recently published a report 'Embracing Difference, Ending Bullying', which highlighted the importance of their work.
Alex Feis-Bryce is an award-winning third sector leader, campaigner and policy adviser with a track record of driving social change and developing organisations either advocating for or delivering direct services to some of the most marginalised and oppressed people in society.
He is the CEO of Diversity Role Models, which was recently named Charity of the Year in the Rainbow Honours 2024. Prior to joining Diversity Role Models, he had a wealth of experience both as a leader in the NGO-sector and as a political advisor. He was the founding CEO of the award-winning sex worker safety charity National Ugly Mugs and has worked internationally advising organisations supporting sex workers and LGBTQ+ people. He was the CEO of SurvivorsUK where he spoke extensively in the media about his own lived experience as a survivor of sexual violence.
He has won a number of awards recognising his contribution including being one of the top five Local Leaders for “extraordinary work in a regional area or niche field” at the 2022 Pinknews Awards, and the Highly Commended Rising Leader at the Charity Times Awards in 2020. He was also included in the last ever Independent On Sunday Rainbow List of the 100 most influential LGBT+ people in the UK.
We look forward to seeing you at this first LGBTQ+ network event of the year!
