Explore robotics and advanced manufacturing at MTC

Join UK RAS STEPS for a visit to the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry on Wednesday 3 February 2027, bringing together Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) from the robotics and autonomous systems community.

MTC works with industry and universities to develop, test and apply manufacturing technologies. Its automation and robotics teams combine robotics, sensors and digital technologies to help organisations improve productivity, quality and safety. Its university partnerships help translate research into practical industrial applications.

This visit offers an opportunity to explore how MTC supports the development and adoption of robotics, tour its facilities, exchange technical expertise with fellow RTPs and discuss opportunities for future collaboration.

The workshop tour is planned to cover additive manufacturing, lasers, digital engineering (including AI and cyber security), and robotics and automation.

• 10:15 – Arrival and refreshments
• 10:30 – Welcome and introductions
• 10:45 – Introduction to MTC
• 11:00 – Introduction to robotics at MTC
• 11:15 – Break and move to workshop
• 11:30 – Workshop tour: additive manufacturing; lasers; digital engineering (AI and cyber security); robotics and automation
• 12:30 – Lunch
• 13:15 – MTC interaction with academia
• 13:30 – Discussion
• 14:30–15:00 – Depart
