HESG ECR Workshop: How to do a HESG discussion well
Opting to do a HESG discussion is a great way to get involved with the conference, and practice critiquing and presenting. However, if you have not attended an HESG before or have not yet volunteered as a discussant, it might seem quite a daunting task.
This workshop aims to help break down these barriers; providing information on how to do a HESG discussion well, by offering practical tips on how to best prepare – both in the days leading up to the discussion and on the day. We will also be sharing top tips from seasoned HESG goers on what they found has worked best and what hasn’t. The workshop will also briefly introduce the role of session chair and ways that you can do this successfully.
The workshop is aimed at early career researchers (ECRs) who are new to HESG or have yet to do a discussion. It may also be useful to individuals who have done a discussion but are looking for ways to improve their next one or for individuals who are not very confident in their presenting skills. We hope the workshop will give ECRs the confidence to volunteer and the tools to deliver a great discussion!
Please note that this session will be recorded.
Organised by Emma McManus and Anna Wilding from the University of Manchester on behalf of the HESG ECR Committee
