Wed 8 May 2024 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Description
Have you ever wondered how the ancient Egyptians actually mummified the dead or how the mummification process works? If so, come along to this session to have a go for yourself using an orange. This may sound a little strange but actually we can learn a lot about the practical process of mummification using this very simple experiment. This type of experiential learning (or learning by doing) can help us to understand a bit about the skills an ancient Egyptian embalmer needed, how bodies dry out and some of the factors that control how effective this was. Take your mummified orange away and see how effective your mummification was over a few weeks!
