WAARC Collaborative Projects Online Festival

As part of the Wellcome Anti-Ableist Research Cultures Project (see further information: https://sheffield.ac.uk/ihuman/waarc), in collaboration with Sheffield Voices we have commissioned four co-produced research projects, focusing on disability. Sheffield Voices is a Disabled People’s Organisation in Sheffield, UK for adults with learning disabilities. These projects focus on ways in which Disabled people can be better included in research. Meaningfully including Disabled people in research is key to ensuring that research reflects the needs and wants of Disabled people.

This festival will bring together researchers, self-advocates, Disabled people and interested people engaged in the ways in which Disabled people are included in research.

In this festival, Sheffield Voices will talk about their involvement and the four co-produced projects will talk about their research:

1. Bev Enion, Turana Abdullayeva, Leyla Jabbarzade and Our Vision, Our Future: Making Bills Easier to Understand: Promoting Accessibility and Inclusivity

2. Dr Grace Joseph and Extant: Open Scholar

3. Dr Cassie Kill and The Professors: Knowing together, differently: collaborative performance practices in a disability arts group as inclusive artistic research

4. Dr Esme Creal, Dr Rachael Bright and Buckinghamshire Disability Service (BuDs): Accessing Archives: creating a network for disabled, neurodivergent, chronically ill or deaf historians

There will be opportunities for questions and short discussions.

British Sign Language Interpreters will be present at the event.

We'll have a comfort break during the workshop.

Anyone who is interested in co-produced research with Disabled people are welcome to attend.
